Testimonials

My testimony is a little different than everyone else’s only because I happen to be happily married to Shihan Earl. I wasn’t sure if my testimony would be worth placing on our website since I assist in class and have ownership in our Dojo.

Martial Arts has been 25 years of my husband, my children and my life. I have spent 15 amazing years married to my husband and we have grown in many ways. Family is very important to us and Shihan Earl and I take pride in having such an extension to our family. We enjoy spending much of our time showing how much we appreciate our students. I believe that Martial Arts is not only a physical instruction, but is also to teach honor, respect, love and self confidence which is something that as our younger students learn will take them through out their entire life.

I have spent 3 close years with Chris and Michelle. I have watched Chris go from an orange belt leading class on his own.  I’ve watched these two wonderful people grow in love. They have even reminded me of the special little things in a marriage and how blessed I am to have such a wonderful, passionate husband. Sensei Chris and Senpai Michelle are what you would call “contagious”. If you spend anytime with them you will immediately feel good about yourself. Sensei Chris and Senpai Michelle are always positive with everyone and would do anything for everyone.

I have never been as proud of anything as I am for Nokido Ju-Jitsu, Judo and BJJ. I can truly say that if you come in and watch our class you would fall in love with our leadership, compassion for the art and the love we have for our students.

We wanted to enroll our daughter in a Marital Arts program hoping it would give her the ability to protect/defend herself in the future. After reading Sensei Earl’s biography, we were extremely impressed with his background and wanted my daughter to learn from someone who has such vast experience in the Marital Arts. Sensei Earl, Sensei Chris, Sensei Kaye, and all STORM team members show great patience and care for their young students. Currently, my entire family participates in one or more of the Nokido classes offered including my youngest son who suffered a traumatic brain injury at a young age. He is currently an honor roll student at his school and I’m thankful he has gained confidence in himself through both our family and the Nokido family.

Our children have attended Nokido Jujitsu with Sensei Chris for around 11/2 years. The dojo has truly made us feel like part of the family. While being involved in Jujitsu the classes help instill the up most important qualities we want for our children. Responsibility, respect for themselves and adults, friendship, loyalty and exposure to different cultures are just to name a few. Jujitsu has also given our children a confidence to be able to stand up for themselves if the occasion called for it. We are so grateful we have the Nokido family, and we look forward to many more years together.

If you choose to join our family, you will find yourself transformed, physically, mentally and maybe even spiritually. I joined Nokido Ju-Jitsu & Judo to get into physical shape. Sensei Earl & Sensei Chris taught me that Nokido is far more than just another exercise program. It promotes much more than physical health. It is comprehensive, physical, mental and spiritual discipline. Nokido is (The way of the spirit) warrior’s life of action. Sensei will say, “you now have 999 left to go”, because it takes 1000 times to perfect the move. Sensei will share his philosophy of life in lessons that I can carry with me throughout my day. If you apply yourself to the Nokido’s way you will begin to transform not just your body but also your life. I have developed mental clarity and a calm, experience and enhanced sense of self-confidence, respect and learn to appreciate what a beautiful gift my life is every day, every hour, every second, like I have with Nokido Ju-Jitsu & Judo.

I wanted to find something that my two oldest sons and I could bond on and do together.  As a business owner I find myself very busy with limited time for the extracurricular. However, I found that Nokido Jujitsu, Judo & BJJ has classes throughout the week and can fit just about any schedule.  My oldest is 9 and my youngest is 4.  The Lil’ Samurai class has done wonders to help my 4 year old to grow out of his shyness and develop a great sense of pride and accomplishment.  With my 9 year old it is amazing that we learn the same things so we have something we can work on together throughout the week as we both grow.  My 9 year old has also developed a great sense of accomplishment and a desire to grow and do better each class.  They are fantastic with the kids and a very family oriented organization with multiple functions that they include the entire family for.  My children and I look forward each week to our classes and the time we can spend together growing and working on our martial art development.  Thanks Sensei Earl and Chris for a great organization and team that works so well together.

There are nice kids and I learn a lot. I listen to my teachers and they show me lots of fun moves using punches and kicks, but only in a nice way. I also learn of manners and love
the coloring homework each week.

Sensei is the best Sensei ever met. I know that he is my dad but he is awesome. I love him as a dad and a Sensei.

My son started in the little samurai class about two years ago.  Time has flown!  During the last couple years my son has been offered guidance, discipline, encouragement, and a safe environment in which to grow.  The Nokido team works on age-appropriate life lessons, builds self-esteem, assertiveness, and leadership skills.  I have learned my own parenting lessons from sitting in the audience – the entire team is amazing.  There is a comfort in knowing my son is being taught the valuable lesson of self-defense, but perhaps more so I appreciate that the dojo incorporates the importance of peace and provides psychological awareness in addition to the techniques themselves.  I have seen my son’s self-confidence grow through learning the skills and by the excellent instruction and encouragement of the Nokido team.  I have witnessed young kids who radiate confidence and responsibility, acceptance and excitement over others accomplishments – some truly inspirational moments.  Moments that make me realize the lasting effect the team members have on their students and their families.  I have a huge respect for the Nokido team.  I am not a martial artist myself but I can see the effects/impression on those who are involved.  They have challenged my son to be his personal best and helped him grow as an individual… all while having FUN!  Thank you, to each and every one of you – for all that you do!

We are so glad that we chose Lil Samurai’s class for Ryan. We originally chose you because the cost was the most reasonable, but we quickly saw that you offer so much more. The first day my husband took Ryan to “check it out,” you immediately invited him to participate. The next week, I was surprised that Ryan was greeted by name! It means a lot that you care enough to learn and remember a child’s name after meeting them one time. Ryan love going to Ju-Jitsu every week and has fun practicing at home. Rewarding his hard work with frequent testing and belt advancement really helps keep him motivated, while we, as parents are glad that you won’t advance him if he hasn’t actually gained the required knowledge or skills. Another thing that we appreciate is the focus on character building. That is such a priority to us as parents and to see that our values are being reinforced is very important. We encourage Ryan to work hard and strive to be part of the Storm team one day. I can see the values you teach in the students that we meet, especially in the way they interact with our children. We look forward to enrolling our daughter next year when she turns 4 and our youngest son too! We have recommended Nokido to our friends and hopefully their son will be joining soon! You definitely have a family environment and we are happy to be a part of the “family” and hope to be for a long time!

My son Jacob has been in the Lil Samurai program since August of 09. Since that time Jacob has made great improvements in the areas of discipline, confidence, respect, perseverance and many other areas that make his day-to-day life better and easier for everyone. Sensei Earl does a great job communicating with the students and presenting things in a way that they understand, and of course he can defend himself better that ever now.

The Lil Samurai program has had such a wonderful impact on our son’s life. He has learned so many things, not only the beginnings of Martial Arts, but also respect, discipline, patience and so many other virtues. The Storm Team’s presence surrounds him wonderful role models he can look to for support and guidance. This Dojo is such a warm and caring family environment we wouldn’t dream of entrusting our child’s learning to anyone else. It has been a joy to be part of the Nokido Ju-Jitsu Family.

“We began at Nokido to give our young daughter some physical and social activity.  It wasn’t long before the close knit family atmosphere drew both me and my wife onto the mat as well.  Now two years later, training at Nokido has changed all of our lives for the better.  We’re not only in the best physical shape of our lives, but we’ve gained a new family both inside and outside of the dojo.”

Hi, my name is Gail and my son Rocco has been in the little Samurai class for a year and a half now. I am so glad I decided to have him try it out. I really didn’t know what to expect. I had a good feeling he was going to like it because of all the karate he sees on Spongebob and such shows. I never knew that it would turn out to be the smartest thing I ever did for my son. I mean that too. He is learning so many things. He is learning self-defense, manners, respect and above all how to defend himself if needed. I love the way the class is run and how everyone is just one Giant Family. It is such a good atmosphere for a young child to grow up in. I believe the teachers all care for the children very much just like you would expect in a family setting. I can see how comfortable Rocco is with all the teachers and the older children that come to help out. It is so important to make sure your children are “hanging out with the right crowd” and I can honestly say the kids this group are great influences on my son. I am happy he has so many good friends, adult and kids alike. All I can say is thank you for letting others have the chance to benefit from your experience and your teachings. You are truly a wonderful Human Being.

My son showed interest on taking a Martial arts class. We looked into Nokido Ju-Jitsu & Judo and we were extremely pleased with Sensei Earl teaching techniques and the family oriented atmosphere at the Dojo that not only my son joined but myself as well. If you’re looking to get in shape, learn a Martial Art, share some time with your son/daughter, I would recommend joining the Nokido Ju-Jitsu & Judo family.

The time our son, Brody, has spent with Nokido has been so great. He started there as a quiet 5-year-old and has blossomed into a confident young athlete, learning not only about Judo and Jujitsu, but also about teamwork, respect and responsibility.  We were immediately drawn to the family atmosphere at the dojo and feel so fortunate for the hours Brody has been able to spend there and for the friendships that he has developed.  We have recommended Nokido to our friends and always feel confident that people will have a good experience there.

“My son was previously a student and loved every minute of it! We recently moved back to North Port and he returned to the dojo even before his bags were unpacked.  Sensei Chris and Sensei Earl welcomed him with open arms!  The Nokido Team exemplifies exactly why we moved back – we missed that sense of community and belonging!  Our family is very PROUD to be a part of the Nokido FAMILY!”

–Jodi Proyect

Martial arts for me is a way of life, I have been involved with martial arts since I was 11 years old. I came to Nokido to not only learn a different style of martial arts, but to also gain a valuable camaraderie that is unique to martial arts. The minute I walked through the Nokido doors I immediately felt the kind spirit of the school, and I knew right away without a doubt that I made the right choice. Sensei Earl and Sensei Chris represent the best qualities instructors can have. They are patient, they are kind, they have a gentle spirit, they never give up on anyone, and every time you come through those doors, they make you a better martial artist and better person than you were yesterday. In Nokido, we all look out for each other, and we all strive to make one another better by pushing ourselves to conquer any obstacles that may stand in our way. I encourage anyone to come and visit us and see for yourself who we are.

Almost 2 years ago our youngest son Kyle was having problems at school, ranging from poor grades to being “sick” quite often. We began asking questions and finally found out that he was being bullied on a daily basis. After meeting with school officials and trying to find a way to deal with the problem we spoke to Jim Bobenchik about Nokido. We accepted their invitation to the Dojo and quickly realized this school was different. They welcomed Kyle with open arms and we quickly became part of an amazing family of Martial Artists. I feel honored to part of that family and hope to continue for many years! By the way Kyle no longer gets bullied! His confidence level discourages that type of behavior and for that alone I am incredibly grateful to Sensei Chris and his team at Nokido Ju-Jitsu & Judo in North Port!
